MEET THE TEAM

In its concern to train priests for the mission of the Church, the team of the International Seminary of Ars is made up of more than 40 professors of the SJMV including a bishop, as well as 18 diocesan priests, 5 religious priests and 17 Laity (8 women and 9 men). The seminary is under the pastoral responsibility of Father Emeric Colas des Francs, General Moderator of the John Mary Vianney Society and Father Roch Valentin, the Superior. They are assisted by a “Council of the Fathers” who accompany the formation of the seminarians on the human, spiritual and intellectual level during their entire journey towards the priesthood.

Seminary's Rector

Born in 1975, he is a man of relationships and is passionate about the life of the Church. He is incardinated in the diocese of the Priest of Ars, a very important figure for him. After graduating from the post-graduate level, in 2016, he became Rector of the entire John Mary Vianney International Seminary.
Father Yves Courtel

Father Yves Courtel

Father's Council

Born in 1949, he is passionate about horticulture. Thanks to its care, you can admire, during your passage, the magnificent park of the Foyer Sacerdotal of the SJMV. After living in Cameroon, but also in Brittany and Bourgogne, he moved to the International Seminary of Ars in 2002. He is also confessor and chaplain of Carmel d’Ars.
Father Patrick Clément

Father Patrick Clément

Father's Council

Born in 1982, he was ordained a priest in 2013. Originally from Oyonnax, he joined the John Mary Vianney Society, marked by the figure of the holy Curé d’Ars. After a study mission at the John Paul II Institute in Rome, he was appointed parish vicar at Notre Dame de Bourg in 2017. He has been a member of the Council of Fathers since the beginning of 2019.

Father Philippe Parant

Father Philippe Parant

Father's Council

Born in 1979 in the South-West of France, he joined the John Mary Vianney Society attracted by the figure of the Priest of Ars, as well as by the tools proposed by the SJMV to live his ministry of diocesan priest. Deeply marked by the Ignatian spirituality, he is also General Councillor of the John Mary Vianney Society.
Father Thierry des Rochettes

Father Thierry des Rochettes

Father's Council

Born in 1954, he remained very attached to the french department of Savoie where he served as a priest for many years before joining the village of saint John Mary Vianney. Endowed with a great culture and particularly attached to the spirituality of Carmel, it excels in the spiritual guidance.
Father Roland Varin

Father Roland Varin

Father's Council

Born in 1978 in Saint-Lô, in the french department of Manche, he joined the John Mary Vianney Society during his formation, marked by the fraternal life and the example of the Priest of Ars. He is a specialist in ecclesiology, and holds a doctorate and follows theological studies of the seminarians.
